Apollo on Broadway

If Mom loves musicals, don’t miss the Apollo Chorus of Chicago’s first concert dedicated to the best of Broadway. The concert will be held at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago on Friday and First United Church in Oak Park on Sunday.
Chicago Kids and Kites Festival
In its 18th year, the Chicago Kids and Kites Festival gives the entire family a chance to get out and fly a kite. Kite kits will be provided (while supplies last), and kids can enjoy face painting, balloon artists and crafts. And don’t miss the Big Kite Candy Drop in the afternoon.
Uncorked: Chicago Wine Festival
The first Uncorked: Chicago Wine Festival takes place this weekend with more than 50 wineries, live music, food trucks and more. If beer is more Mom’s thing, get your tickets for the Chicago Beer Classic on May 7 at Soldier Field. (Hurry — tickets are almost sold out.)
Model Railroad Garden Opens

It’s a busy weekend at Chicago Botanic Garden, where the annual Model Railroad Garden will open with 18 trains, 26 bridges and 5,000 plants. You can also stop by the Hoosier African Violet Society Show & Sale, Central States Dahlia Society Sale and American Rhododendron Society Show & Sale, all open May 7-8.
