This weekend is all about celebrating love, not only with a significant other but also friends and family. Fortunately, three annual events are returning to Chicago and the suburbs just in time for those making last-minute Valentine’s Day plans.
Here are five things to do this Valentine’s Day weekend:
Valentine’s Day Classes at Pinot’s Palette

Feb. 12-14
Glenview
Pinot’s Palette is hosting a variety of classes perfect for date night or a family outing. On Friday, paint a Starry Night-themed Chicago skyline and munch on Lou Malnati’s pizza apps. On Saturday, families can paint and enjoy Pinstripes Catering before couples paint a date-night scene. Finally, on Sunday, Gigi’s Cupcakes will provide treats for an afternoon session and guests will receive a rose from Morning Glory Flower Shop in the evening.
Valentine’s Vineyard

Feb. 13
Northfield
A wine tasting is always a great idea for Valentine’s Day, but it’s an even better idea when it helps you give back. Proceeds from 12.5 percent of wine sales at this North Shore Senior Center event will benefit low-income and poverty-level seniors. Make It Better is a proud sponsor of this event.
Chicago Auto Show

Opens Feb. 13
Chicago
Get dolled up for date night at the Chicago Auto Show’s First Look for Charity gala (black-tie attire is required) on Thursday. During the rest of the show, meet local celebrities including Anthony Rizzo, Lance Briggs, Bobby Hull, Denis Savard and Eddie Olczyk.
The Orchid Show

Opens Feb. 13
Glencoe
This year, give your Valentine orchids … 10,000 of them. The Chicago Botanic Garden’s Orchid Show runs through March 13 and features Morning Music with the Orchids, the Orchid Marketplace and a new Concert with Orchids on Feb. 18.
Chicago Theatre Week

Ends Feb. 21
Various
Take your Valentine out for dinner and a show (or two!). During Chicago Theatre Week, participants (Goodman Theatre, Broadway in Chicago, Blue Man Group, American Theater Company, Drury Lane Theatre and more) will showcase more than 100 productions for $15 or $30.
