5 Things to Do: December 19-21

This weekend, we’ll be in the mist of Hanukkah festivities or still gearing up for Christmas. Either way, enjoy some time with your family at a carnival on ice or an acrobatic holiday show. You can also take a tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright house, which will be decorated for the season, before visiting the Chicago Botanic Garden for holiday concerts and a trip to Wonderland Express.

Glenview Ice Center’s Winter Carnival

Begins Dec. 19

Parents looking to entertain children over break should stop by the Glenview Ice Center. For two weeks, the rink will host events like Drop & Shop, a Puck Cancer Charity Game, Enchanted Breakfast & Skate and New Year’s Freeze.

Enjoy a girls’ night out this weekend with the latest show at Light Opera Works, a tale of a rich widow and her suitors.

Cirque Dreams Holidaze

Don’t miss this variety show that features more than 300 costumes, 20 acts and 30 artists from around the world. If you can’t make it over the weekend, buy your tickets for Wednesday or Thursday instead.

The Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio will be all dressed up for the holidays with greenery, turn-of-the-century décor and a 12-foot tree. Hot chocolate will also be available.
