The Joy of Toys: Chicago Toy & Game Fair

Young, old and even in-between … we all love toys.

So it’s a good thing The Chicago Toy and Game Fair is coming up.

Scheduled for November 17 and 18 at Navy Pier, the Fair is the largest public toy fair in the U.S.—which means we get a chance to play with the hottest, newest games and toys before anyone else! Also? you can meet with and talk to top toy inventors.

Having attended last year, I can vouch for the fun factor—both my high schooler and elementary school-aged child had an equally good time trying out new games and toys. You can count on spending at least two hours roaming the aisles, and possibly more if you or your kids are the type to try everything.

See: The Star Wars Luncheon—it will cost more to attend, but come on .. it’s noshing with Darth Vader.

Skip: The parking, if you can. It’s not always avoidable, but if you have a healthy family of walkers, skip the car and take the train.

Tip: Headed downtown on Saturday? The Magnificent Mile Lights Festival is the same day. Enjoy the Fair, then scoot up to Michigan Avenue for the evening’s festivities.
