A Grand Lyric Tradition
Less than two months after the very first meeting of Lyric’s Women’s Board in 1955, the inaugural Opera Ball was held. In its first year, the event raised a total of $17,000. Dancing took place in the foyer, with dinner tables on the American Airlines Mezzanine. Since then, Opera Ball has become one of Lyric’s signature events, commencing each new season with the level of excitement and elegance it so deserves.
As Lyric prepares for its 65th season, patrons attending the opening night performance of “The Barber of Seville” are also invited to attend Opera Ball, hosted this year by Women’s Board mother-daughter duo Mrs. James J. O’Connor and Elizabeth O’Connor Cole. After the curtain falls, guests will be transported to The Hilton for a fabulous evening of cocktails, dinner, dancing, and live music from the Stu Hirsch Orchestra. Celebrate 65 seasons of grand opera alongside the stars of the production!
Individual reservations ($1,250) include a Main Floor Prime performance ticket with premium seating, as well as one-way transportation to The Hilton and admission to Opera Ball. Already have your seat for “The Barber of Seville”? You can add a ticket to Opera Ball for only $500!
