The first-ever Halal lifestyle festival in the U.S. is coming to Navy Pier this weekend with beauty masterclasses led by CoverGirl Ambassador Nura Afia, modest fashion shows, the “America’s Least Wanted” comedy showcase, panel discussions, and more. “Our goal for this new festival is to create a space for individuals and families to connect and have fun and experience all the brands creating products and services that meet the needs of anyone looking to live a life that is good and in line with their values, a life that is Halal,” says festival Co-Managing Director Asma Ahad.

This weekend at Brookfield Zoo, visitors will learn about apes and take part in ape-related activities. Before you go, download these activity sheets to learn even more. You can also bring your old phones and other electronics for recycling.

  • Join former Chicago Bear Rashied Davis and Chef Tony Priolo (Piccolo Sogno, Nonnina, Maillard Tavern) for an afternoon of bowling, food, and fun during Chef Bowl 2018 on April 15. The event will benefit Saturday Place, “a premiere academic enrichment program for 3rd and 4th grade Chicago Public School students proven to increase student performance.”
  • Victory Gardens Theater will host Town Hall: #NeverAgainChicago on April 15. This discussion with local students and teachers about ending gun violence is free and open to the public. The evening will also feature an excerpt from “Natural Shocks,” the new play by Lauren Gunderson.
