Shorefront

Started in 1994, Shorefront works to compile and publicize the African-American history of Evanston. Started by a concerned member of the community, the organization grew out of two books of research on the topic. The only organization of its kind in the area, Shorefront now works to preserve and add to the rich African-American history that may well have been lost to time without their work. This organization promotes community awareness of it’s own past and current history through education and the publication of its own magazine so that the complete history of Evanston will never again be lost.
