Mikva Challenge develops youth to be empowered, informed, active citizens who will promote a just and equitable society. Our work gives voice to disenfranchised youth from under-resourced communities.
Describe how your organization lives/realizes its mission.
Mikva Challenge is passionately committed to the promotion of youth voice, and the Citywide Youth Councils are our signature vehicles for the realization of this objective. Specifically, the Youth Safety Advisory Council was formed in response to the escalating tensions between police and citizens in communities strongly impacted by controversial shootings here and nationwide. The council provides youth with an outlet to voice their concerns in a non-violent way with the end goal of reducing discriminatory behavior and advancing social justice.
