SitStayRead (2014 Philanthropy Awards)

SitStayRead is a 2014 Better Philanthropy Award winner.

The foundation has updated their mission statement since 2014. SitStayRead is dedicated to advancing children’s literacy skills using an engaging curriculum, certified dogs, and dedicated volunteers.

Six years later, SitStayRead has expanded its reach across the city of Chicago. Here are some updated By The Numbers 2019:

  • 16 partner schools
  • 2,000 + students served
  • 12 Remote Learning Lessons (in both English and Spanish) for grades K-3, supplemented by Student Materials Packs of physical materials for the home (6 brand new books, pencils, pencil sharpeners, erasers, crayons, and an activity workbook housing all the virtual activities for completion with pencil/paper)

  • $35 covers the cost of a remote learning SitStayRead Supplies Pack for one student
  • $140 sends home an English/Spanish SitStayRead Activity Book with 20 students
  • $500 supports the development of our Remote Learning Curriculum, allowing us to serve students no matter where learning is taking place.
