8 Cosmetics Companies That Give Back

8 Cosmetics Companies That Give Back

Beauty products help women feel more beautiful, but wouldn’t it be nice if they also helped women feel like they were making a difference with each swipe of blush or application of lotion? Here are eight skincare and cosmetics companies that donate a portion of their proceeds to various philanthropies.

Burt’s Bees

Cosmetics That Give Back: Burt's Bees
Burt’s Bees Red Raspberry Lip Balm

We’re a sucker for Burt’s Bees lip balms as well as their passion to give back to our planet. In 2007, the nonprofit organization Burt’s Bees Great Good Foundation was established. Since then, the foundation has issued more than $2.4 million in grants. In 2016, the Bring Back The Bees program was created to aid pollinators with nourishing forage for bees. Concern for the environment can also be seen in the product packaging, which is made with recyclable materials.

Clark’s Botanicals

Cosmetics That Give Back: Clark's
Clark’s Botanicals Age Defying Radiance Cream

Clark’s Botanicals was founded after Owner Francesco Clark suffered a paralyzing spinal cord injury that left him unable to walk and even sweat. Clogged pores and constant breakouts inspired Clark and his father to develop this botanical-based skincare line. A percentage of profits from the sales of all Clark’s Botanicals products is given to The Christopher & Reeve Foundation.

Joa Bath and Body

Cosmetics That Give Back: Joa
Joe Delightful Bath Soap

Kiehl’s

Cosmetics That Give Back: Kiehl's
Kielh’s Ultra Facial Cream

Kiehl’s creates award-winning products while making it their mission to support significant causes such as HIV/AIDS research, environmental issues and children’s well-being. To date, $3.5 million has been raised through limited edition products and campaigns established to benefit various organizations like Feeding America and amfAR.

L’Occitane

Cosmetics That Give Back: L'Occitance
Aromachologie Essential Oil Mist

If you’ve ever wondered why each L’Occitane product contains braille on the packaging, it’s because Founder Olivier Baussan’s passion is helping the blind, specifically by donating proceeds from limited-edition products to The American Foundation for the Blind. L’Occitane additionally heads a perfume school for visually impaired teenagers who are flown to France each June for a summer workshop.

Lush

Cosmetics That Give Back: Lush
Charity Pot

Charity Pot body lotion is perfumed with florals, olive oil and rosewood oil for a delicate scent that leaves skin hydrated and silky soft. Better yet, 100 percent of the cost for each Charity Pot lotion is donated to small grassroots organizations working in the areas of environmental conservation, animal welfare and human rights.

Scratch Goods

Cosmetics That Give Back: Scratch
Matcha Mask

Chicago’s own Scratch Goods is a full handmade skincare company as well as a storefront with customizable mask bar. Quarterly donations of solid soaps benefit One Heart Africa, a grassroots volunteer organization dedicated to bring sustainable change to impoverished areas of Africa. With this year’s projected sales, Scratch Goods will be able to send enough soap to wash every student and teachers’ hands multiple times per day.

Thrive Causemetics

Cosmetics That Give Back: Thrive
