Introducing Make It Better’s Shop For Good

Shop for children, for education and for a brighter future when you Shop For Good with Make It Better during the month of October.

Shop For Good is Make It Better’s brand new e-commerce website dedicated to supporting outstanding local businesses and nonprofits, and creating more synergies for our community. Ten percent of all purchases are donated to nonprofits carefully vetted by Make It Better. The items in the shop come from a variety of local boutiques and some national brands as well. Current participants with products already in the shop include:

We are always looking for more businesses that care about giving back to the community to join Shop For Good. Please learn more here.

We are delighted that Kohl Children’s Museum is our first nonprofit partner. Kohl has been brightening the future for children and families by providing them with high-impact learning experiences for 30 years now.

Please read my blog post about Kohl here.

As you know, Make It Better strives to create content and connections that better the lives of our audience and everyone in our community. The museum echoes this through its mission to foster a love of learning in children and through its various community outreach programs. Proceeds from Shop For Good will go toward supporting the museum and programs such as Family Connections, which provides families in need of financial assistance with museum passes, and Play Attention, which provides military veterans, active duty military personnel and their families with access to the museum free of charge.

The inspiration behind Shop For Good comes from my personal childhood and youth experience. I grew up working in my family’s grocery stores, Richard’s Market Baskets, in Indianapolis. But big box stores and online retailers eventually decimated the business, as we’ve all seen happening across the country.

In my father’s honor and memory, I am on a mission to counter the trend that caused so many beloved family businesses in local communities to fail. This is part of my publisher calling.

This is the right moment in time to do this too. People yearn for more authentic connection. They want their hometowns to flourish. Our audience wants to support local, sustainable, good values. Shop For Good helps them do just that.

Please Shop For Good with us to celebrate Kohl Children’s Museum’s 30th Anniversary and support great local businesses too.

Thank you.
