ART OF GIVING FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES ANNUAL FUNDRAISER, “BLACK TIE & SNEAKER BALL”

July 9

$175 – $1000

The Art of Giving Foundation, dedicated to funding local art programs and artists in need of seed funding to launch or maintain social initiative programs that benefit their communities, has announced its 2 nd Annual Fundraising Gala, the “Black Tie and Sneaker Ball”. The event is scheduled for July 9th at Artifact Events in Chicago. Founder, Autumn Pippenburg, explains this year’s theme: “Fashion is an art, and sneakers are becoming big fashion statements. There is a huge following out there of sneakerheads. Custom sneakers are a big hit in the street art world because artists are hired to customize these shoes with their own art. And yes, ladies in gowns can wear sneakers too!” Included in the evening’s festivities will be a live auction, a sneaker and accessory fashion show, as well as a “Best Sneaker Design” competition. Chicago fashion designer Boris Powell will be presenting a “Best Dressed” award for the most stylish guest.

The pandemic put a noticeable dent in the foundation’s fundraising efforts in 2020 as well as greatly impacted the art scene throughout the world, overall. Now more than ever, communities are asked to rally around the art industry to help revive, maintain and strengthen this necessary lifeline for consumers and livelihood for artists. “These are people’s careers; people in culinary arts, visual arts, theater and comedy to name a few,” says Autumn. “This is how they make their living, like anyone in any other industry. We aim to recognize and support that.” The goal for this year’s gala is to raise $100,000; $25,000 more than was raised in 2019. Among the programs to be funded is the Artist Grant Program , awarding five Chicago artists a $5,000 grant each, to fund their social initiative community outreach project in the form of a mural of their impression.

The Live Art Auction will include 12 presenting artists, each with at least three pieces of artwork available for bidding. Up to four of those artists are scheduled to do live presentations of their work on site during the course of the evening. Jason Farley, Creative Director for Art of Giving Foundation, is curating all of the artists for the event. Guests will enjoy live music and food from some of Chicago’s best restaurants, including Taqueria Chingon and a pop-up restaurant group called Loon Popup. Chicago Cut is also sponsoring the event. Other participating vendors include:
 Dance performances by Joel Hall
 Stuntmen and women provided by Greg Poljacik
 Custom sneaker donations by Sneaker Heartz and The Sole Revival (Marco Foster is helping to judge the sneaker
competition, along with Ross Snider and Cameron from Sneaker Heartz.)
 Venue donated by Atomic Hospitality Group
 Elite Chess is sponsoring a life-sized chess art exhibit (which several artists helped paint) that will be auctioned off to raise money for chess classes for underprivileged youth.

“Everything around us is in some way, shape, or form, art,” notes Autumn. “There is an artist in every one of us and we all have the innate ability to create. Art allows our soul to express its happiness, pain, desires and goals through a healthy medium. When communities have the right tools, art saturates and impacts lives with positive influence and change. Let’s color the world with creativity, love, understanding and most importantly – opportunity. In the end, we’re all a part of the big picture.”

General admission tickets are $175 and there are four levels of VIP sponsorships available that include various amounts of VIP tickets, table reservations, champagne and private artist meet n’ greets.
