An Evening With Award-Winning Author George Saunders

Glen Oak Acres Community Book Club celebrates its 10th anniversary with a special discussion and book signing event open to the public with award-winning author George Saunders on Sunday, Oct. 28.
Susan Swaringen, Glenview resident and childhood classmate of the author, will moderate the discussion on Saunders’ Man Booker Prize-winning first novel, “Lincoln in the Bardo.” The evening promises a unique opportunity to not only discuss Saunders’ latest novel, but to also hear his reflections on his life and writing career, covering everything from his advice for young writers to his views on the current state of media and politics.

About George Saunders
Winner of the 2017 Man Booker Prize for best work of fiction in the English language, “Lincoln in the Bardo” is an astonishing feat of imagination and a bold step forward from one of the most important and influential writers of his generation. George Saunders is also the author of the fiction collections “Tenth of December,” “In Persuasion Nation,” and “The Brief and Frightening Reign of Phil.” His work regularly appears in the New Yorker, Harpers, and GQ. In 2006, he was awarded a MacArthur Foundation Genius Grant. In 2013, Saunders was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by TIME magazine. Saunders is also a professor of English at Syracuse University.
