Levy Lecture Series – History of the Blues by Fruteland Jackson, musician and historian

Fruteland Jackson is an author, storyteller and accomplished musician. A Chicago native, he has been nominated three times for the Blues Music Awards. In 1997, he received the Blues Foundation’s Keeping the Blues Alive award for his educational work with young people. (He created the “All About the Blues Series” for use in schools.) Mr. Jackson plays acoustic guitar with a focus on pre-war and post-war blues using a variety of styles including ragtime, Piedmont, and Delta. In 2002 he wrote Beginning Delta Blues Guitar. His most recent CD, Good As Your Last Dollar, was released in May of 2019.
