Made in Chicago Gala
November 3, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 11:00 pm
Join the Union League Boys & Girls Clubs as it kicks off its big 100th anniversary coming up with an evening of dinner, dancing, and diamonds. The charity gala benefits youths served by the nonprofit’s after-school programs in some of Chicago’s most vulnerable neighborhoods. This year’s black tie “Made in Chicago Gala” is Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Union League Club of Chicago, 65 W. Jackson Blvd., and is expected to draw more than 300 guests.
WGN-TV’s Michah Matterre will emcee the event, which begins at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction. Dinner starts at 7:30 p.m. with a live auction and Diamond Drop Drawing. The Diamond Drop Drawing features 100 glasses of fine champagne that will be available to “buy a chance” to win diamond jewelry.
The Diamond Drop Drawing spotlights two stunning pieces of diamond jewelry valued at nearly $8,000 donated by C.D. Peacock, Chicago’s jeweler since 1837. A lucky winner will go home with an 18k white gold ring with 2.67 ct. of diamonds and an 18kt gold necklace with 3.15 ct. of round diamonds. The evening is capped off with dancing and an after-glow dessert bar from 9-11 p.m.
In 2017 alone, the nonprofit served over 14,000 youth members at its professionally staffed inner-city clubs located in the Pilsen, West Town, Humboldt Park, Bucktown, South Lawndale, and Englewood communities.
The event will include the unveiling of the Union League Boys & Girls Clubs 100th anniversary logo and a special celebration to kick off the nonprofit’s big anniversary.
The Union League Boys & Girls Clubs is a separate organization than the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago. Both are chartered by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. For more information on the nonprofit, please visit ulbgc.org.
