Midwest Young Artists Conservatory Fall Concert
October 14, 2018 @ 1:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Midwest Young Artists Conservatory Jazz, Choral, and Orchestra students take the stage Sunday, Oct. 14. at Pick Staiger Hall on the campus of Northwestern University to present classic stories of adventure, heroism, intrigue, mystery, and romance in an all-day concert event beginning at 1:30 p.m.
The concert is the only performance of the year in which all of MYAC’s large ensembles are represented, from the seniors and juniors of Symphony Orchestra and Big Band to the youngest members of Mini Maestros chorus and Reading Orchestra.
Symphony Orchestra will complete the day’s musical journey performing Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s dramatic symphonic suite “Scheherazade.” Composed in 1888, the work is based on One Thousand and One Nights (also known as “The Arabian Nights”).
MYAC’s 2018-2019 theme is “Share Your Story,” emphasizing the powerful role music plays in connecting us and shaping the narrative of the world we live in. Student performances throughout the year will tie into this compelling motif, as will the individual stories of the donors, families, students, and alumni who’ve made MYAC their musical home over the last 25 years and beyond as the organization looks to the future as the Midwest’s premiere youth music conservatory.
Tickets are $18/adults and $5/students if purchased by Oct. 8. Purchase tickets by phone by calling 847-926-9898. Day-of concert tickets will be sold in the Pick Staiger lobby for $25/adults and $10/students.
