National Kidney Foundation of Illinois 36th Annual Gift of Life Gala: Bridging The Gap Towards Kidney Health
October 28, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm$350
The National Kidney Foundation of Illinois (NKFI) announces its 36th Annual “Gift of Life Gala: Bridging The Gap Towards Kidney Health” on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 East Wacker Drive. The evening will benefit the NKFI mission to improve the health and well-being of those at risk or affected by kidney disease through free screening programs and community health initiatives in Illinois.
NKFI will present Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Director Dr. Ngozi O. Ezike, MD with the “Gift of Life Award” in recognition of her resilient and compassionate leadership through the pandemic on behalf of the residents of the State of Illinois, in addition to her support of programs to engage residents in the awareness, education, prevention and early detection of kidney disease.
The IDPH funds the NKFI KidneyMobile, the only mobile kidney screening unit in the country. To date, the KidneyMobile has screened more than 55,000 Illinois residents for chronic kidney disease and its two biggest precursors, diabetes and hypertension.
NBC 5’s Regina Waldroup, Chicago-native and longtime public supporter of organ donation, will serve as mistress of ceremonies and host the evening’s events.
Cocktail hour begins at 6:00 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:00 p.m.
Event sponsors include Nephrology Associates of Northern Illinois and Indiana, Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network, UI Health Surgery Department, UI Health Transplant & Nephrology Department, and Fresenius Kidney Care.
