Pfeffer Family Forum: Propaganda, Power, and Persuasion
December 5 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pmFree with Museum Admission
In the 1930s, propaganda was one of the most important tools that Nazis used to shape the beliefs and attitudes of the German public. During World War II, the United States, too, used provocative and deceptive slogans and imagery to influence soldiers, civilians, and enemies of the country.
Today, the rise of dangerous and extremist speech continues to facilitate violence and genocide.
In this year’s Pfeffer Family Forum, leading 20th-century political propaganda scholar David Welch, Director of the Center for the Study of Propaganda and War at the University of Kent (England) will speak to the power and perils of propaganda throughout history, and why combating hateful rhetoric today is so critical.
