The Book Stall Presents a Book Release Party with Jarrett Dapier at Good Grapes

August 2, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Join The Book Stall for an entertaining evening featuring the renowned children’s author, Jarrett Dapier, hosted at Good Grapes (821 Chestnut Court in Winnetka) on Tuesday, August 2 at 6:30 pm. We will be celebrating the release of his new picture book, “The Most Haunted House in America,” featuring a rollicking spooky-fun trip through the most haunted home in America: The White House! With rhyming, rhythmic text and wonderfully macabre illustrations, this musical tour of America’s most famous home is full of spooky surprises at every turn! The evening will showcase the music of a live drum line and food and beverages for both adults and children will be available.

More About the Book: When three little skeleton drummers receive an important invitation from First Lady Michelle Obama to perform at the biggest party of a lifetime – or afterlife – the band must pack their instruments, rise from the earth, and prepare to rock the White House on Halloween. With gusto and bone-rattling beats, the skeletons play for a spirited group of trick-or-treaters, the First Lady, and President Barack Obama on the front lawn. When the party moves inside, something’s not quite right: there’s a chill in the air and a prickle of fright! Soon the Skeleton Drummers encounter a roll call of all the spirits that haunt the home, from a giant cat to Abigail Adams to ghostly pets of all shapes and sizes!

About the Author: Jarrett Dapier is an author, librarian, and life-long drummer. His debut picture book “Jazz for Lunch!” received a starred review in Kirkus Reviews. His second picture book, “Mr. Watson’s Chickens,” received a starred review in Publisher’s Weekly and was chosen by NPR and Bookpage as one of the best books of 2021. His third book, “The Most Haunted House in America,” is based on his experience drumming at the White House for the Obamas’ first Halloween celebration in 2009. He lives in Evanston with his family and their many pets (including three chickens named Marilla, Helena, and Goldie).

About Good Grapes: As an independent wine boutique, Good Grapes offers their patrons expert guidance purchasing wines and craft beers, as well as wine samplings, an affordable wine club membership, cellar stockings, to-go bags, and food and wine pairings.
