The Masks We Wear: A Mardi Gras Celebration
February 22 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
HEAD TO HEAD documentary is about women with hair loss who choose to wear a wig. They enter the world hiding a piece of their identity, as if they are wearing a mask. The film explores the difference between the way we present ourselves and our authentic self.
PARTY: Join us for a nearly-Mardi Gras celebration at Vaudezilla! to share that experience of interacting from behind a mask and help raise funds for the documentary film. Two Vaudezilla! ladies will be mixing and mingling in costume plus enjoy a special burlesque performance where the full authentic self is revealed!
CRAFT: Indigo & Violet Studio is leading a mask craft activity before the main event. So if you want to show up to the party a little ‘extra’, come early to make your very own Mardi Gras mask, nibble on light apps and have a drink with us. Seating limited to 20 people.
ART: Local artwork – themed identity, hiding, masks, or hair – will be on display and for sale to also benefit the film.
DRESS: We encourage all to wear masks, feather ‘n’ bead accoutrements, and festive attire. But all styles and levels of dress are welcome.
TICKETS: $50 for pre-event VIP. $15 suggested donation for main event.
