Bring Your Own “Sand-wich”

This week, get summer spontaneous.

Pick your husband up at the train station with your kids in the car and a picnic basket packed with goodies.

Before he has time to ask, “What’s for dinner?” you’ll be whisking him off to the beach for a mid-week picnic dinner. (Don’t forget to bring Dad a pair of shorts, t-shirt and flip flops, so he can change at the beach house).

Before you decide this is just one more item for your to-do list, consider this: a picnic can be as simple as Subway sandwiches, bottled drinks, bags of chips, and cookies. The real key to a fun beach dinner is making it feel spur-of-the-moment.

Once at the beach, the kids can play and run around while you and hubby relax, eat and catch up on your day. The best part is that by the time you return home, the kids will be exhausted, need a hot bath and go straight to bed. Added bonus: No kitchen to clean up.
