Check out these two fabulous sites:
Groupon – Groupon is my new favorite site! It’s hip. It’s fun. And, best of all, it offers great deals!
They offer a deal a day for places to go and things to do in and around Chicago. But here’s the catch—you get the deal only if a certain number of people join. That’s why businesses offer these prices—because they can guarantee the volume. Groupon = “Group” + “Coupon”
Here’s exactly how it works:
1. Each day they feature something cool to do in Chicago at a huge discount.
2. You get the discount only if enough people join that day – so you should invite your friends!
3. Check back the next day for another awesome Groupon.
Joan’s note: I just bought a $35 voucher for Ai Sushi (358 Ontario, Chicago) for $15.
Halfoffdeals
They’re the country’s largest fulfillment center for half-off dining and half-off entertainment gift certificates. They’re sold online in conjunction with their media partners. Okay…they’re not quite as “hip and happening” as Groupon, but their deals seem even better!
Joan’s note: I just bought a $50 voucher for Koi Chinese & Sushi (624 Davis St., Evanston) for $25.00 ($28.75 including shipping and handling).
