Trends in Renovation: Inside a Remodeled Wilmette Home

Homeowners today are opting to remodel and redecorate rather than starting over with a completely new space. It’s a welcome trend for Lewis Floor & Home, the floor-to-ceiling design and decorating showroom for all things home.

A vintage 1923 brick home was in dire need of a remodel; the priority was the kitchen and front entry.

Most entries are very important when it comes to function and design. It is the first impression of your home and often the smallest area. Stairs are often featured prominently and can become the statement feature in your home by using a pattern or color on a stair runner.

Lewis Floor & Home brought the entry to new life, replacing old vinyl flooring with encaustic cement flooring and refinishing the once-natural oak stain of the stair treads with an ebony hue.

The new galley kitchen layout creates a more functional kitchen and opened up the space to the eat-in nook.

In the newly renovated kitchen, white marble quartz with subtle veining forms the countertops and backsplash, allowing the black cabinetry and artful floor to shine.

A new refrigerator hidden behind matching custom cabinetry panels gives the kitchen a more expansive feel.

“Our best projects are those we have provided multiple products for our clients,” owner Steven Lewis says. “That is the greatest benefit of a one-stop-shop: it makes the project a better experience for everyone.”
