Protecting Yourself as You Age

As we age, changes occur in our bodies that impact our flexibility, mobility and overall health.

How we adapt and adjust to them may determine how well we age, if we are able to avoid injuries and complications and if can live life to the fullest. As with most things in life, planning ahead is usually the key! So what kinds of simple things can we do in our everyday lives to stay healthy in our later years?

  1. Stay active!
Whether it be a little or a lot, physical activity of any kind is better than none at all. Benefits may include improved mood, stamina, energy levels, weight and sleeping patterns.

  2. See your physician!
Stay one step ahead of your health by seeing your physician regularly and making sure you are up to date with immunizations.

  3. Hone in on your stress!
Don’t let stress get the best of you. Focus on the things and people who relieve your stress and spend your time focused on them.
  4. Maintain your environment!
Keep your stairs, floors and walkways free of potential fall hazards (rugs, unnecessary items on the floor, etc.) and make sure your home has proper lighting.

You only get one you…make it YOUR best!
