Watch Kevin Costner Lead the White Sox and Yankees Out of the Cornfield at the Field of Dreams Game and Try Not to Cry

Life imitated art last night when one of America’s most beloved sports movies, Field of Dreams, became a reality in the small town of Dyersville, Iowa. The Chicago White Sox played the New York Yankees on a field specially built among the cornfields next to the original 1989 movie site. The Field of Dreams game was the first official Major League Baseball game ever played in Iowa

Eight thousand fans in the stadium and a nationally televised Fox audience at home watched as Kevin Costner, the film’s star, emerged from the cornfield followed by the two teams in a moving, cinematic moment that brought tears to many a baseball fan’s eyes.

The game delivered too, with eight total home runs and a 9-8 win for the White Sox clinched in the bottom of the ninth with a walk-off two-run homer by Tim Anderson.

If you missed the game, don’t miss the incredible entrance by Kevin Costner and the White Sox and Yankees. Watch it here.

New Yankee and former Chicago Cubs star Anthony Rizzo missed the game after testing positive for Covid-19. Rizzo previously spoke openly about declining the coronavirus vaccine
