Engagement: David Simon and Lesley Smith

David Simon asked Lesley Smith to marry him in front of her entire family during an annual Smith family summer birthday bash last year.

The couple, who met through friends, will marry Sept. 12, 2015 at Old Oak Tap in Chicago. They plan on including personal touches throughout the ceremony and reception to honor family members who have passed away.

“We both have grandparents and great-grandparents who have passed that we would like to incorporate touches of their style into the wedding,” Lesley says. “Our tablescapes are going to be milk glass bud vases with yellow Billy Ball flowers. My great-grandma loved milk glass, and I inherited part of her collection and love the thought of adding her style to the reception.”

The entire day will have a vintage chic feel thanks to décor from Chicago Vintage Weddings. The couple is looking forward to their honeymoon in Maui, as well as spending the rest of their lives together.

Lesley, Art Director at Make It Better and graduate of Columbia College Chicago, is the daughter of Joseph and Arleen Smith of Kalamazoo, Michigan. David, the son of Ilene Simon and Robert Simon and step-son of Ellen Simon, all of Buffalo Grove, is a graduate of Stevenson High School and Illinois State currently working for AIG.
