Mark Schimmel of Northbrook, an experienced filmmaker, recently captured Crystal Bowersox and 8 other musicians performing “Sweet Home Chicago” on the streets of our favorite big city.

Schimmel, who has produced videos for large corporate clients such as Nintendo, donated his time to make this video for Chicago Street Musicians, a nonprofit dedicated to celebrating and recognizing local street musicians through education initiatives and performance opportunities.
“I took the same care and time on this video as I do for my paying clients,” Schimmel says. “It’s some of my finest work.”
So maybe the next time you’re in an El stop hearing some tunes, you’ll stop and listen, and throw a dollar in that hat. That musician could be the next American Idol!
