Better Makers: 17th Annual City Year Ripples of Hope Awards Dinner Raises over $870,000

On February 25, $873,000 was raised for City Year Chicago at their annual Ripples of Hope Awards Dinner. This year’s event was held at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park where they honored Chairman and CEO of loop Capital Markets LLC, James R. Reynolds and Chicago Cubs Executive Chairman Thomas S. Ricketts for their commitment to improve communities throughout Chicago. Chaired by the Honorable William M. Daley and Edward J. Wehmer the event provides a space to celebrate the AmeriCorps of City Year members. These are the people who, according to City Year Chicago’s Vice President and Executive Director Rebeca Nieves Huffman, ” work one-on-one with at-risk students and help teachers meet the scale of intervention necessary to achieve sustainable impact.”

City Year Chicago is an education-focused nonprofit that works to keep students in school and on track to graduate through the tireless work of young adults who have committed to a year of service in schools.
