Better Makers: Former Chicago Blackhawk Bryan Bickell Raises Money for Pit Bull Adoption and Education

Better Makers: Former Blackhawk Bryan Bickell Says Goodbye to Chicago With Charity Benefit

On June 22, Blackhawks fans joined Bryan Bickell and his wife, Amanda, at Hugo’s Frog Bar and Fish House to raise funds for the Bryan & Amanda Bickell Foundation. This farewell party and charity benefit featured Bryan and Amanda behind the bar, serving up drinks and chatting with their fans.

The Bickell Foundation serves as a pit bull breed ambassador and raises awareness about pit bulls by promoting adoption and educating children about the resilience of these dogs. Additionally, the charity helps abused children through Bick’s Pit Program. The couple founded this organization after Bryan was featured in a Chicago Loves Pits campaign. Two billboards featured the Blackhawk with the caption, “Bryan Bickell is the only fighter in his family.” From then on, the Bickells found a new calling.

Fifty percent of the night’s signature beverage proceeds went directly to the Bickell Foundation. The drinks included “The Bickell Rum-Bull,” which will remain on Hugo’s menu until July 22 and its proceeds will continue to benefit the charity.
