Better Makers: Broadway ‘Hamilton’ Star Headlines Goodman Theatre’s Spring Gala

Broadway 'Hamilton' Star Headlines Goodman Theatre's Spring Gala

Goodman Theatre, Chicago’s oldest and largest nonprofit theater, celebrated the 40th anniversary of its Women’s Board at Ruby Night, the spring fundraiser gala. The May 19 event raised more than $1 million in support of the theater’s education and community engagement programs. More than 500 guests gathered at the Fairmont Chicago for the black-tie evening. The gala was headlined by Tony Award-winning singer Renée Elise Goldsberry, who performed a wide-range of jazz, soul and Broadway hits.

The evening was full of entertainment: a lavish three-course meal and signature cocktail, fine jewelry raffle, and songs from Goldsberry and The Gentleman of Leisure. The gala decor was designed by Kehoe Designs.

The gala was presented by the Women’s Board and co-chaired by Joan E. Clifford, Swati Mehta, and Alice Sabl. Cynthia K. Scholl currently serves as President of the Women’s Board and David W. Fox, Jr. is chair of the Goodman Theatre Board of Trustees.

This event was made possible thanks to the generous support of Joan and Robert Clifford, Clifford Law Offices, Swati and Bobby Mehta, Northern Trust, Alice and John Sabl, American Airlines, Sharon and Charles Angell, Denise and John Ginasol, Albert and Maria Goodman, Adnaan Hamid and Elissa EfroymsonNancy A. Lauter & Alfred L. McDougal Charitable Fund, Carol Prins and John Hart, Cynthia and Michael Scholl, and Sondra and Denis Healy/Turtle Wax.
