Feed the Hungry, Help Soldiers with Easy “Make a Difference” Activities

Here’s two easy ways to make a difference:

The Buffalo Grove Area Chamber’s Community Outreach Committee offers two projects for you to help this month.  Take a look and see if you can help.

Feed the Hungry–Fill the Pantry
Once again the Chamber is reaching out for help.  On your next trip to the grocery store please add any items below to your list. These items can be dropped off at the Chamber Office or bring them to the next event. If you’d prefer, we will pick them up at your place.

  • Dry rice (1 lb bag)
  • Dry milk
  • Evaporated milk
  • Sugar (small bag)
  • Flour (small bag)
  • Jello
  • Pudding
  • Lemonade mix & other flavors
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrushes
  • Paper Towels
  • Toilet Paper (individually wrapped or 2 or 4 roll packages)

Blankets & Shoes for Soldiers
Soldiers with the 101st Airborne stationed in Afghanistan along the Pakistani border in the Nangarhar Province have requested blankets and gently used men’s shoes sizes 8-10.

When wounded soldiers are transferred from the zone to the hospitals, everything they come in with goes out…so the need for blankets.
Many nationals wear sandals while working in the kitchens and burn their feet when spilling hot water or grease and often the bases are in cold climates….so the need for shoes.  The shoes can be tennis/gym shoes, boots, hiking boots etc….

These items can be dropped off at the Chamber office or bring them to the next event.  If you’d prefer, we can pick them up at your place.

If you have any questions, please contact the chamber Office or Jan Obrand at 847-541-3324.
