The Junior League of Evanston-North Shore has partnered with the Huggies® Every Little Bottom campaign to host a diaper drive to help moms and babies in need.
Huggies® Every Little Bottom is a national campaign to create awareness about diaper need. According to a Huggies® study, one in five moms in diaper need say they run out of money to purchase diapers. Moreover, nearly one in five moms in diaper need have extended the amount of time they leave their babies in wet or soiled disposable diapers – in extreme cases, moms have cleaned out and reused wet or soiled diapers.
Mothers have had to cut back on food, utilities like heat or electricity, or child care in order to provide diapers. The problem is so severe that moms and families may be forced to miss work or school because some day care centers do not accept children without an adequate supply of diapers.
Please make a donation of diapers or a financial contribution to support the drive. The collected diapers will be donated to six local non-profits: YWCA Evanston/North Shore (Mary Lou’s Place); Howard Area Community Center; Northfield Township Food Pantry; New Trier Township Food Pantry; Childcare Network of Evanston; and Family Focus. The diapers will meet a crucial need within the community that is often overlooked. Other basic needs like food are covered under government sponsored programs; however, moms and babies who need diapers fall into a coverage gap.

The Junior League of Evanston-North Shore hopes the diaper drive will tackle these issues within the North Shore community. “Babies are suffering physically and emotionally. Moms are also impacted and may miss work or have to keep their baby out of daycare if they do not have enough diapers, perpetuating the cycle of need,” said Jeanni McCormick, President of the Junior League of Evanston-North Shore.

Donate diapers, or gift cards to be used to purchase diapers, through our Target.com registry through November 17.
All sizes of diapers are needed. All brands of diapers are accepted. Donations of gift cards, cash, and checks (made payable to “JLE-NS” and mailed to 620 Lincoln Ave., Suite 209, Winnetka, IL 60093) are accepted.
