On Saturday, Feb. 27, over 400 households tuned in from across the country to celebrate and raise funds for Cove students in grades K-12. While togetherness looked a bit different this year, The Cove School didn’t want to miss the tradition of bringing its beloved community together, albeit virtually.
This year’s event featured a wine tasting pre-party, Cove Uncorked, sponsored by Louis Glunz Wines and Vin Chicago. During Cove Uncorked, co-hosted by Louis Glunz Wines CEO Joseph Glunz and sommelier and restaurant wine specialist Gleshan Piumpathy, participants enjoyed a carefully curated fine wine flight in the virtual company of over 195 participants.
The Cove School’s virtual benefit kicked off with a one-of-a-kind staff welcome song, special guests, inspiring stories and important messages about its very specialized school. Cove also honored Maureen Klatt, a longtime community leader, supporter, Cove parent and Lake Forest resident, with the 2021 Cove Prism Award. This prestigious honor celebrates individuals who demonstrate inspirational leadership and outstanding commitment, and have made a transformational impact at Cove.
Through the generous efforts of Cove’s students, families, alumni and friends, the 2021 Annual Benefit raised over $555,000. The Cove School is extremely grateful for the leadership of Benefit Chair Lauren Cundiff, of North Barrington, Benefit Auction Chair Jessica Brosche, of Winnetka, and the countless hours of time, talent and dedication contributed by the entire benefit committee.
The success of the benefit would not have been possible without the support of Cove’s generous benefactors and corporate sponsors, including: Academic Approach; American Chemet Corporation; Barnett Capital Ltd.; CIBC Bank; Faegre Drinker; HCI Equity Partners; Queue Brand Communications; CrossTown Design Build; Ear, Nose and Throat Care Center; Jet Linx; OCA Ventures; Seyfarth; Twenty-One Senses; Canale Financial Group; Grane; Louis Glunz Wines; and Vin Chicago.
Cove Executive Director Dr. Sally Sover remarked, “Cove’s strength has always been in its ability to bring great people together who share a vision for a better world for those with disabilities. We can’t thank our community enough for joining us for the benefit and for their extreme generosity. This is a critical time in our history, a pivotal time in education and an extraordinary time in Cove’s future. Because of you, we are better and stronger — together.”
The Cove School provides highly individualized education and life strategies for students in grades K-12 with complex learning disabilities.
