Almost every family will experience cancer.
However, some families have a genetic mutation that predisposes them to certain types of the disease, called hereditary cancer.
Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered (FORCE) is a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. Since it was founded in 1999, FORCE has provided thousands of families with support and education on hereditary cancers.
On Saturday May 12th, FORCE will be hosting Celebrate the Women In Your Life brunch. Guests will enjoy a champagne brunch and a screening of the Lifetime original movie FIVE. FIVE is a collection of five short films exploring the affects that breast cancer has on patients and their families while they struggle through the stages of diagnosis and search for a cure. Before the film is shown, guests will learn why understanding their family’s medical history is so important for diagnosis and treatment of hereditary cancer.
During the event, eight local volunteers who have dedicated themselves to improving the lives of those facing hereditary cancer will be honored.
