Quick and Easy: Donate Dresses, Shoes and Accessories

MAD-glass-slipper-projectDonate your new and gently used dresses, shoes and accessories to The Glass Slipper Project.

This local organization provides prom attire, free of charge, to young Chicago women who are unable to purchase their own.

When: Saturday, March 16 and 23 from noon-3 p.m.

Where: The Westfield Concierge at Old Orchard Shopping Center in Skokie will be accepting donations.

The Organization: The Glass Slipper Project is a 100 percent volunteer-based nonprofit organization that distributes dresses at their Glass Slipper “boutiques” during prom season. Each student receives individual assistance from a volunteer “personal shopper” as she shops for the dress of her dreams. To date, The Glass Slipper Project has helped more than 17,000 young women attend their proms in style!

In addition to the boutiques, donated items will be redesigned and transformed by fashion students from Niles North, Niles West and New Trier high schools. These students will then design 3-D sculptures inspired by their favorite trends this season. The dresses will be available for viewing (and voting) in the outdoor garden beds of Old Orchard Center March 11-May 8. The art project will help create buzz for The Glass Slipper Project and encourage donations from visitors and guests.
