The Organization: Go Green Wilmette works to raise environmental awareness in Wilmette and to inspire residents, village government, businesses and other organizations to take action to make a significant environmental difference.

Through their recycling efforts, Go Green Wilmette has diverted more than 100,000 pounds of electronics, 16 vanloads of Styrofoam, hundreds of fluorescent light bulbs and countless household batteries from Illinois landfills. The recycling and re-use of these materials reduces soil and ground water contamination and reduces the need for extracting more oil and metals from the earth.

They provides residents with valuable information to demonstrate how everyday activities affect the environment. They also demonstrate how small changes in the choices we all make can immediately benefit our homes, communities and the environment at large.
