Quick and Easy: Race Against Hate

Join the YWCA Evanston North Shore for the 13th annual Ricky Byrdsong Memorial Race Against Hate.

Race Against Hate was launched to preserve the memory of Ricky Byrdsong, an African American man who was the victim of race violence in Skokie in 1999. This annual Father’s Day tradition allows the whole family to join in the fun with a 10K, 5K run/walk and youth mile. Everything gets to take home giveaway bags and t-shirts at the end of the day.

Founded in 1858, the YWCA reaches 25 million women in 125 countries around the world, and more than two million people around the United States are involved in their programs. The YWCA Evanston North Shore is dedicated to empower women, promoting peaceful communities and nurturing racial, gender and economic equality. All of the proceeds from Race Against Gate support the YWCA’s Violence Prevention and Racial Justice programming.
