Quick and Easy: Walk to Stop Diabetes

Last year, over 150,000 participants from 130 walks across the nation raised $20 million to help fight diabetes. Let’s top it! StepOutWalk

Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes has been the signature fundraising walk for the American Diabetes Association (ADA) for over 20 years. Since its founding, the walk has raised a remarkable $150,000,000 for ADA to use to prevent, cure and manage diabetes. ADA’s goal is to support and improve the lives of the 25.8 million Americans living with diabetes, and the walk enables them to do just that.

Step Out will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 30th at Didier Farm in Buffalo Grove. Individual walkers are welcome, though you are welcome to join or form Corporate, Family Club, School or Church teams as well. Team Koops, for example, was created in honor of Chicago native Jared Kuper (pictured) who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2009. He soon after went into a diabetic coma and stopped breathing, but was lucky enough to survive to work on the Youth Action Council for ADA and travel, educating people on the severity of diabetes. Team Koops has raised over $1,500 with a goal of $5,000 to donate to ADA’s efforts.

Help the walk achieve its total fundraising goal of $215,000 while engaging in a healthy form of exercise (which also lowers glucose levels!) by registering online or on September 30th beginning at 8:30 a.m. before the walk.
