Partner Spotlight: BrightStar Care Brings the Highest Standard of Care to the North Shore

The most successful companies are the ones created to solve problems. BrightStar Care was started by a young couple, Shelly and J.D. Sun, when struggling to find the proper elder home care for J.D.’s grandmother. The complexity of finding trustworthy care led them to start BrightStar Care, a network of more than 300 offices across the United States with independent owners committed to top quality service and care. In 2011, the organization was featured on the CBS series “Undercover Boss.”

In the same vein, BrightStar Care — North Suburban Chicago was founded. Owners Carl Kettler and Jeff Emrich had a similarly hard time finding care for their mothers. The two partnered to start the North Suburban Chicago Care Team.

Meet Emrich, owner of BrightStar Care — North Suburban Chicago, and learn more about the individualized attention and quality of care from BrightStar.

Make It Better: Briefly describe your business philosophy.

BrightStar Care — North Suburban Chicago: BrightStar Care’s business philosophy is “a higher standard of care,” bringing care that is up to the same high standards that the hospitals are held to.

Which product (or service) that you offer is your favorite, and why?

We provide care for any age individual for “no minimum,” meaning no required number of hours, allowing anyone to receive any type of care.

Tell us about how your business gives back to the community and which organizations or initiatives you’re most passionate about supporting. Why is that important to your organization?

BrightStar Care — North Suburban Chicago is one of many franchises across the country. As a whole and even individually, we give back to many charities and donate our time to city chambers, ALS charities, Alzheimer’s Association, and many more. We care deeply about the citizens in our community.

How has your business adapted to support the demands of consumers for more sustainable and socially responsible products and services?

Our business has adapted to help the community and those in it by listening and hearing the needs of those out there who need assistance in their home, whether it is temporary or permanent.

We believe that we’re all better together. Tell us which businesses or individuals in the community you love to work with and support.

BrightStar offers medical staffing as well as home care. This allows us to work alongside the different assisted living facilities and memory care centers when they need help with their staff and may not have enough team members to care for all of their residents. This ensures that our community still runs smoothly and can care for the residents appropriately.
