In the early morning of December 29, a multi-alarm blaze swept through three popular Evanston businesses, leaving devastation in its wake.

While the building’s owner hopes to rebuild, many people are unexpectedly out of work.

The Evanston community has banded together to raise money to help the displaced employees of Pineyard, Taco Diablo and Technicolor Nails with a fundraiser at 27 Live in Evanston Saturday, Jan. 18.

“It’s a way for members of the community to show their support to those businesses affected by the fire,” says Nili Yelin, marketing director at 27 Live. Money raised through ticket sales, sponsors and a raffle at the event will go directly to the affected workers.

Three local bands will be on hand to provide entertainment: Emmy Award-winning composer Steve Rashid, the Louie Zagoras Trio, and Poor Man’s Cow. There will be reserved seating available with dinner reservations before the event and a cash bar to wet your whistle. Doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets cost $25; under 21 admitted with a parent or guardian. Even if you can’t attend, you can still buy a ticket as your donation.
