Chicago Humanities Festival’s fall programming kicks off this weekend and will run through Nov. 12. This year’s theme is “Belief,” and CHF writes, “Faith in the divine, commitment to a cause, conviction about the truth, trust in our institutions? However we understand the idea, issues of belief have never been more in flux.” Headliners include Al Gore, former vice president of the United States.; Samantha Power, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations; Ron Chernow, author of “Alexander Hamilton;” and Reza Aslan, host of CNN’s “Believer.”

The Illinois Holocaust Museum’s groundbreaking Take a Stand Center opens Sunday with a “mission of empowering and enabling people to stand up for humanity.” This multi-million dollar exhibit will give visitors a chance to “talk” with 13 Holocaust survivors through 3D holography and voice recognition as well as learn about 40 historical and contemporary “Upstanders” who fought for or are continuing to fight for civic, social, economic and environmental rights. Visitors will then take home a toolkit to help them become Upstanders too.

City on the Move

5 Things to Do: City on the Move at Kohl Children's Museum

Kohl Children’s Museum re-opened the City on the Move exhibit on Oct. 24 with two new train table sections (one accessible to children in wheelchairs and one built for toddlers) and new additions to the mural. Stop by the museum this weekend to check it out.
