Describe how your organization lives/realizes its mission.

Customized Employment “strengthen[s] lives in Chicago’s diverse community” by disproving the notion that people with disabilities cannot hold positions of substance that both help the individual grow and genuinely benefit the employer. CE clients receive individualized, holistic support from JVS Chicago employment specialists who are committed to helping aspiring employees with I/DD explore and strengthen their interests; gain self-confidence and independence; learn new skills; and find meaningful work that contributes to the community at large. Catering to the individual and not their disability, CE helps to enhance the emotional and social well-being of people with complex needs and barriers to employment and maximizes the potential and opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
