National Iced Tea Day is June 10

Take a break from the summer heat by sipping something sweet on National Iced Tea Day.

While the history surrounding the invention of iced tea is murky, Richard Blechynden is credited with popularizing it in America at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis, according to TeaUSA.com.

Blechynden was the India Tea Commissioner, and at the fair, nobody would drink his tea hot because of the sweltering heat. When he had the idea to serve his tea cold, overheated fairgoers welcomed the refreshing beverage.

How to celebrate: Put your favorite hot tea on ice, and give it a long sip! Or, find a recipe to make an iced tea you’ve never tried before, like Strawberry Lemonade Tea on CDKitchen.com.

If you don’t have time to make your own iced tea from scratch, buy some at your local grocery store. Last year, Snapple gave all of its Facebook friends coupons on National Iced Tea Day, so check their Facebook page for updates!
