Rachael Ray to the Rescue

In Chicago to promote her new cookbook of 30-minute meals, Rachael Ray presented a check for $7500 to Chicago Canine Rescue.

Rachael Ray has a heart for rescue dogs.

For the launch of “Look + Cook,” Rachael partnered with Best Friends Animal Society to organize pet adoption events as part of her national book tour.

For the Chicago area, Chicago Canine Rescue (CCR) was chosen. Janice Triptow, president of CCR, was thrilled.

These special rescue dogs from CCR greeted Rachael with a pooch smooch—a small way to say “thanks” for all she does to help homeless pets.

This impressive outreach is part of Rachael Ray’s recent announcement that she will donate $750,000 in proceeds from her Nutrish pet food line to go directly to various animal shelters and organizations that help pets in need. She highlights these organizations on her official website via Rachael’s Rescue.

Her website also features “pooch fave recipes” which are “taste tested” by Isaboo, her beloved Pit Bull. I might try baking the “All Dogs Eat Quiche” recipe for my Chihuahua, Pongo and my Shih Tzu Lilly as a special Valentine’s Day treat.

And speaking of Valentine’s Day, consider adopting a special pet from Chicago Canine Rescue. Guaranteed love and kisses on February 14 and beyond!

Here’s a quick video of Rachel chatting with Margaret McSweeney about her new book and her canine fans.
