Recycle Your Holiday Lights

Don’t just toss out last year’s old holiday lights, recycle them!

The Solid Waste Agency of North Cook County (SWANCC) is sponsoring a Holiday Lights Recycling Program in your community to recycle your used light strings and extension cords.

“Every year, residents find themselves purchasing new strands of lights due to burned out bulbs, incomplete strands, wanting a different color, etc.,” says Mary Allen, SWANCC’s Recycling and Education Director. “Through this recycling program, materials will be reclaimed, reprocessed, made into new products and kept out of the landfills—making the season much brighter.”
