Spring Beauty Trends for 2011

Color, color and more color. From your lips to your nails, this spring’s makeup is all about bright, eye-popping looks.

Take a chance and embrace the season’s explosion of vivid hues.

Dark purple shadow
Vibrant violet is the go-to shade this spring and a refreshing change from typical gray and brown shadows. Estee Lauder Spring 2011 Wild Violet eyeshadow palette offers five different purples in varying intensities and finishes so you can have a blast blending colors.

Retro
This season’s fashion and faces took major inspiration from the 70’s. High gloss on the eyes and skin, as seen at Marc Jacobs, can be attained with a metallic or copper shadow on lids and a lighter cream shadow dabbed just under brows. Pair this wet shine look with a rosy cheek and matte lip.

Bright pink lips
Whether it’s deep berry or hot pink, pucker up in this universal shade spotted at Jil Sander, Fendi and Diane Von Furstenberg. Go with a stain or lip pencil for lasting color, then top with a satiny pink or clear gloss.

Colored Eyeliner
Electric hued eyeliner was all over spring runways. The look may seem extreme, but for a more wearable version, line only your lids in plum, olive or deep blue for a weekend night on the town. Lancome Le Crayon Khol in Ultra-Lavende or Dior Crayon Eyeliner in Captivating Blue will really make your eyes pop.

Fuchsia Flush

Like this season’s popular lip color, bright pink looks fresh on cheeks. Try YSL Crème de Blush in Fuchsia Temptation or Givenchy Blush Gelée Jelly Blush.

Metallic nails
For added drama, rock a metallic paint on your nails like many of the ladies at this year’s Golden Globe Awards. Chanel’s Les Perles collection comprises three iridescent shades that will make you swoon.
