Memorial Day Celebrations Around the North Shore

Enjoy the beautiful weather and celebrate our millitary heros by heading out to your town’s Memorial Day celebration.

 

Take your family to some of these parades and ceremonies taking place all around the North Shore this Memorial Day.

Barrington

Memorial Services will take place at the following places:

White Cemetary on Cuba Rd. at 7:30 a.m.
St. Paul Cemetery on East Main St. at 8 a.m.
Barrington Center on Sutton Rd. at 8:30 a.m.
Union Cemetery on Route 62 at 9 a.m.

A parade will begein at 10:30 a.m. at Cook, Park and Station Streets and will head west to Evergreen Cemetery.

Deerfield

Attend a brief ceremony at the Veteran’s Memorial at 9 a.m., and then watch the parade as at goes to the Deerfield Cemetary.

Evanston

The Evanston American Legion Post 42 is hosting a Memorial Day ceremony at Fountain Square – Veterans Memorial Day Plaza beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Glencoe

Enjoy the 10:30 a.m. parade and service at Veteran’s Park near the Glencoe Union Church.

Kenilworth

A parade is taking place at 2 p.m., followed by a ceremony and picnic hosted by the Boy Scouts and the Kenilworth Club.

Lake Forest 

A Memorial Day service is taking place at 11 a.m. at Market Square, featuring Lake Forest High School’s band.

Northbrook

The Field of Honor will take palce from May 26 through May 30 at Village Green Park, with 1,901 flags flying to honor those who are serving, have served or who made the ultimate sacrifice. The Field of Honor will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, with sunset services taking place each evening at 8 p.m.

The posting of flags on over 150 veteran’s gravesites will take place on May 26 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Lee Road.

A parade will take place on May 28 at 10:30 a.m., starting at Cherry and Western and ending at the Village Green. A ceremony will take place on the Village Green after the parade.

Wilmette

There will be a parade at 10:30 a.m., starting at Lake and Ridge and ending at the Village Hall. A ceremony will be held near the Wilmette War Memorial at the Village Hall following the parade.

Winnetka

A parade will take place at 10 a.m., starting at the corner of Glendale and Elm Streets and heading east towards the Village Green. A ceremony will follow the parade, featuring guest speaker Lieutenant Colonel Ronald J. Tye.
