Oct. 22: Undernights: Dinosaurs at the Field Museum

Take in the world of dinosaurs at the Field Museum at this family friendly, after-hours event. Visitors can safely explore the Field’s permanent exhibitions in addition to its current special exhibition The Machine Inside: Biomechanics. Tickets are $45 per person for members and $50 for non-members.
Oct. 23: Virtual James W. Foley Freedom Run
The James W. Foley Foundation’s 7th annual Freedom Run is making a virtual return this fall. Anyone can participate, regardless of location, as participants around the country remember Jim, a journalist and Evanston native, who was killed while reporting abroad in 2014. The foundation is dedicated to advocating for the freedom of Americans held hostage abroad and to promoting the safety of journalists worldwide.

The Volunteer Center is accepting a wide variety of gently used items for its annual Make a Difference Day this Saturday in Winnetka. 14 Chicagoland nonprofits will benefit from the donations, which include Books4Cause, Connections for the Homeless, Northfield Food Pantry, and more. Donors should package their donations beforehand and label them with the appropriate nonprofit.
Oct. 23-24 : Boo! at the Zoo

Boo at the Zoo is the perfect way to get your family in the Halloween spirit this weekend. Attendees can explore a corn maze, enjoy a haunted hayride, and visit with the zoo’s spookiest creatures.
Oct. 24: Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes

This Sunday is the last day to explore the largest Marvel Universe exhibition at the Museum of Science and Industry. The collections celebrate Marvel history with over 300 artifacts including original comic books, interactive displays, and costumes from Marvel’s blockbuster films. Entry to the exhibition requires a time-entry ticket that can be purchased online: Adults $18, Children (3-11) $14, Members $9.
