North Shore United Way

5010 Oakton Street Skokie, 60077

“North Shore United Way supports the most effective programs that address the most critical needs in Income, Education and Health.”

North Shore United Way serves communities across the northeast region. The estimated population for the region is 300,000 residents. The North Shore has experienced a significant shift in populations, most notably, a 40% increase in Latino and Asian Pacific populations. Within the North Shore communities, there is a need – often unrecognized – for human services addressing income, education and health.

The Local Need:

• Up to 20% of all homes have seen a decrease in property values.

• More than half of the population has experienced some form of job loss.

• Approximately 14,000 people live in poverty.

• Poverty rates range from 2–11%, the highest being in Highwood, where 24% of all families with children under 18 years of age live in poverty.

• Requests for health and human service support have increased by 30% in the past year.

We proudly serve the communities of: Bannockburn, Deerfield, Evanston, Fort Sheridan, Glencoe, Glenview, Golf, Highland Park, Highwood, Kenilworth, Knollwood, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Northbrook, Northfield, Riverwoods, Wilmette and Winnetka.
