An estimated 1.4 million Americans, including 150,000 young people under 18 across the country and more than 60,000 adults and children in Illinois, have Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis – collectively known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America is dedicated to finding a cure and supporting the adults, teenagers and children – and their families – who have these life-changing diseases. The Illinois Carol Fisher Chapter of CCFA sponsors an annual symposium for doctors, patients and families, and other educational and fund-raising events designed to create greater awareness leading to better diagnosis and an eventual cure.
